3.课程简介:Mesh adaptation has become an indispensable tool to enhance computational accuracy and efficiency in the numerical solution of partial differential equations. Adaptive moving mesh methods are a type of mesh adaptation method which dynamically change the location of mesh points according to error estimation and/or physical considerations. They have received considerable attention from scientists and engineers and significant progress has been made in the last two decades. Nevertheless, adaptive moving mesh methods are still an area of intense research and an area of finding broader applications in science and engineering.
This course will give an introduction to basic algorithms and theory of adaptive moving mesh methods. Topics will include one-dimensional moving mesh methods, general theory of mesh adaptation, basic principles and implementation of moving mesh methods in higher dimensions, and finite element discretization of partial differential equations on moving meshes. Matlab codes for one-dimensional mesh movement will be made available for students to gain hands-on experience with adaptive moving mesh methods.
4.选课要求:Students with knowledge in the numerical solution of partial differential equations should be able to take the course.
