短课程《Diophantine Approximations and Diophantine Equations》
课程简介:
Diophantine problems go back to ancient times and are still among the
most important and difficult in number theory. In this course we will
study basic theory of Diophantine Approximations (the theorems of
Dirichlet, Liouville, Thue-Siegel-Roth) and their application to
Diophantine equations.
In Diophantine equations our most important source of examples will be
the equation of Thue. We will obtain various finiteness theorems for
this equation, both non-effective and effective, and will learn how to
solve it numerically. We will also discuss some applications, for
instance, to the famous problem of the Primitive Divisors.
